Does Speakeasy need power?
No, Speakeasy is set up to work off the grid, allowing it to do it's thing practically anywhere! This vintage caravan has a small solar power generator installed to provide it's small power requirements, it runs silently so no noisy outside generator is required. The generator charges by the sun and stores enough power to run for up to 12 hours - plenty of time for a good celebration!
Does the Coromandel Caravan Bar provide the alcohol?
No, we don't have the liquor licensing required to sell alcoholic beverages, this keeps our pricing down. Our team will serve the drinks provided by you to your guests. This means you save money! By being able to purchase your own alcohol, you can take advantage of those great deals & specials that are out there. Our experienced licensed bar manager can help you work out what to purchase and the quantities you will require. All the class of a bar without the high bar prices!

How does Speakeasy keep the drinks chilled?
Speakeasy has two sinks built into the bar that are filled up with ice to store drinks in. There is also extra large chilly bins inside. We have large ice buckets that can be placed outside of Speakeasy so guests can help themselves to a cold beverage. The first drinks need to be chilled when we arrive. If your event is more than 60 people we recommend having access to a chiller trailer or similar, particularly important in the wonderful Coromandel summer!
What drinks will the CCB Team serve?
Whatever you provide! Service of bottled beer, wine, bubbles, RTD's, non-alcoholic beverages & ready made cocktails are included in the package fee. If you require our staff to mix drinks, we may need to bring extra glassware and possibly another staff member which will incur an extra charge. Near the end of our service hours, we will switch out our glassware for disposable Ecoware glasses, these are made from plants so are way better for our environment. We also have a very cool two tap Keg Bar & a freezer cart for hire.

Will the CCB Team provide table service?
We only serve from Speakeasy or the provided bar. This encourages your guests to socialise as they venture to and from the bar. Guests will usually finish their drinks before venturing over to the bar which means less wastage, another advantage. Our staff will clear away glassware and empties from the tables during your event. If table service is required, we will need to arrange to bring some extra staff.
Do you take away the recycling & rubbish?
Unfortunately, we don't have the space to take away any recycling or rubbish. All our supplies and props are tightly packed into the car leaving no extra space. We will leave the rubbish and recycling bagged and tidy at the end of the night.

Do we need licenses, consents or insurance?
If your event is being held at a venue, please check with your venue organiser as to what is required. Some venues require you have an appointed Bar Manager, we have that covered for you! If your event is in a public space such as a beach or a park, you will need to check with the local council. Private residences do not require any special permissions. We have public liability insurance which covers us if we cause damage to your property. We also have insurance which covers any serious damage to The Baravan. If the damage is caused by you or your guests, then we may charge you the excess.
Who are the Coromandel wedding vendors you recommend?
We suggest checking out Your Coromandel Wedding, a directory of Coromandel wedding vendors. You can find all our favourites on there.

Who owns & runs the Coromandel Caravan Bar?
Coromandel Caravan Bar is owned and operated by Jemima, who has over 15 years experience as a wedding coordinator & bar manager. She also owns Your Coromandel Wedding, the wedding directory focused on Coromandel wedding services.
"Weddings & events are my passion and I have worked with many couples to create their dream day at various local venues. I had been looking to branch out on my own for a while before launching 'Coromandel Caravan Bar', I always knew I wanted to continue in the wedding & event industry. I had been dreaming of a Caravan Bar for a few years beforehand, and a couple of years ago I finally did it! I look forward to being a part of many more weddings & events." ~ Jemima

The story so far...
Speakeasy is a 1965 Jackson Calypso caravan made in New Zealand. It is known for it's unusual shape. It is a 13 foot caravan, so it's little but not tiny.
We purchased the caravan in May 2017 and then spent six months renovating it in Port Charles. It is now a very cool vintage caravan bar, which we refer to as a Baravan!
The decor changed quite a few times during the process, and we eventually settled on a crisp, white look that is an easy fit for any occasion. When you peek inside you'll see a hint of rustic with the rimu woodwork and a hint of 1920's glam, which all adds up to the originality of Speakeasy.
