FAQs

Is the Baravan available for my event?
Oh I hope so, as we'd love to be there! Send us an email or a message and we'll let you know.

How far will the Baravan travel?
We love to travel. Our packages include travel to anywhere within a 60km radius of Coromandel Town. This includes Thames, Colville and north, Whitianga and everything in between! Outside of this area, mileage will be charged at $1.75 per kilometre. Overnight charges may apply if it's a fair distance to travel. Ask about our local discount which applies to events in the Northern Coromandel, this is Coromandel Town and anywhere above.

Does the Baravan need power?
No, the Baravan is set up to work off the grid, allowing it to do it's thing in so many fabulous locations. The small solar power generator runs silently inside the Baravan so no noisy outside generator is required.

Does the Coromandel Caravan Bar provide the alcohol?
No, we don't have the liquor licensing required to sell alcoholic beverages, this keeps our pricing down. The Baravan staff will serve the drinks provided by you to your guests. This means you save money! By being able to purchase your own alcohol, you can take advantage of those great deals & specials that are out there. Our experienced licensed bar manager can help you work out what to purchase and the quantities you will require. All the class of a bar without the high bar prices!

How does the Baravan keep the drinks chilled?
The Baravan has two sinks built into the bar that are filled up with ice to store drinks in. There is also an extra large chilly bin inside the Baravan. We have large ice buckets that can be placed outside of the Baravan so guests can help themselves to a cold beverage. The first drinks need to be chilled when we arrive. If your event is more than 50 people we recommend having access to a chiller. Some venues may have one available or we can recommend where to hire a chiller, particularly important in the wonderful Coromandel summer!

What drinks will the Baravan serve?
Whatever you provide! Service of bottled beer, wine, bubbles, RTD's, non-alcoholic beverages & ready made cocktails are included in the package fee. If you require our staff to mix drinks, we may need to bring along another staff member which will incur an extra charge. Near the end of our service hours, we will switch out our glassware for disposable Ecoware glasses, these are made from plants so are way better for our environment. We also have a very cool, rustic two tap Keg Bar for hire.  More info + our fave local breweries can be found here.

Will the Baravan staff provide table service?
We only serve from the Baravan. This encourages your guests to socalise as they venture to and from the Baravan. Guests will usually finish their drinks before venturing over to the Baravan which means less wastage, another advantage. Our staff will clear away glassware and empties from the tables during your event.

Does the Baravan take away the recycling & rubbish?
Unfortunately, we don't have the space to take away any recycling or rubbish. All our supplies and props are tightly packed into the car and the Baravan leaving no extra space. Please arrange for the appropriate bins/bags to be available, these can be kept out of sight behind the Baravan.

Do we need licenses, consents or insurance?

If your event is being held at a venue, please check with your venue organiser as to what is required. Some venues require you have an appointed Bar Manager, we have that covered for you! If your event is in a public space such as a beach or a park, you will need to check with the local council. Private residences do not require any special permissions. The Baravan has public liability insurance which covers us if we cause damage to your property. We also have insurance which covers any serious damage to The Baravan. If the damage is caused by you or your guests, then we will charge you the excess which is $200

Who are the Coromandel wedding vendors you recommend?
We suggest checking out Your Coromandel Wedding, a directory of Coromandel wedding vendors. You can find all our favourites on there.
